The IECEx Scheme for Certification of Personnel Competence (CoPC) provides a standardised level of safety and technical proficiency for personnel working in explosive atmospheres — whether internal employees of process companies or external service providers. Our IECEx CoPC certification training in Malaysia is HRD Corp claimable and prepares candidates for assessment across all major units of competence, from hazardous area classification and explosion protection techniques to intrinsic safety (Ex i) and equipment installation, maintenance and inspection.

Explosion protection in process automation (PA) environments depends on personnel who genuinely understand why each technique — intrinsic safety, flameproof enclosures, pressurisation and the rest — works, not just how to follow a checklist. That's the level our IECEx CoPC training is built to certify candidates against.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is IECEx CoPC certification?

IECEx CoPC (Certification of Personnel Competence) is an internationally recognised scheme confirming that personnel working in or around explosive atmospheres have the knowledge and skills required for their specific role — from basic site awareness (Ex 000) through to design, installation, maintenance and inspection of explosion-protected equipment (Ex 001–011).

What is intrinsic safety (Ex i)?

Intrinsic safety is an explosion protection technique that limits the electrical and thermal energy in a circuit so it can never generate a spark or surface hot enough to ignite a surrounding explosive atmosphere — even under fault conditions. It's one of several protection techniques covered across the IECEx CoPC units, alongside flameproof enclosures, pressurisation and others used throughout process automation environments.

Is IECEx CoPC training HRD Corp claimable?

Yes — our IECEx CoPC training is HRD Corp claimable under the SBL-Khas scheme.

Who should attend IECEx CoPC training?

Anyone working on or around equipment in classified hazardous areas — electrical and instrumentation technicians, process automation engineers, maintenance and inspection personnel, and both internal staff and external service providers who need internationally recognised proof of competence.
